Aajority of real estate professionals expect a strong housing market in the Mid-Atlantic region for this Spring, according to a new survey.

Authored by Metropolitan Regional Information Systems 57 percent of those surveyed predict this spring will be busier among homebuyers and sellers than spring 2015. The group polls experts in the industry from Maryland, Virginia and D.C. as well as parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia.

Last year marked Anne Arundel County's busiest selling period in a decade, with 8,101 homes were sold. That was a 17 percent jump from those sold in 2014, and the first time housing sales in the county surpassed the 8,000 mark since 2005 and the recession.

The market already has shown some preliminary growth in 2016 over last year.

Iron Rooster, the popular all-day breakfast spot in downtown Annapolis, is expanding its flagship location into the building next door.

Adding the two-story space will give Iron Rooster more room for large weekend crowds — when wait times can extend for hours — and allow the restaurant to host more private events, owner Kyle Algaze said. Iron Rooster currently has 168 seats, and the additional space will make room for 40 more seats inside and 16 outside.

Lisa Consiglio Ryan eats what makes her feel good and listens to her body. And the Annapolis resident wants to help others do the same, which is why she wrote her cookbook, "Go Clean, Sexy You," available Nov. 17, 2015.

Consiglio Ryan clearly remembers the exact moment she first got the message – loud and clear – that to be "good enough" she needed to be skinny. And she wasn't "good enough."

She was 8 years old and ready to dance in a recital in her yellow cowgirl costume. A thoughtless comment about her weight from someone she loved crushed her confidence. That moment kicked off an almost 30-year battle with food, exercise and body image. Consiglio Ryan waged a mini war with herself and her body until her daughter, at age 3, asked why her mom didn't eat with her.

Luxury Townhomes Planned for Annapolis Towne Centre

By Shantee Woodwards

Coldwell Banker associate broker
Travis Gray has found that the luxury townhome market is strong in this region, particularly for longtime residents who want to downsize.

Earlier this year, Gray said, he sold a penthouse at the GrandView to a couple who had an Annapolis waterfront home and wanted a smaller space now that they had adult children and grandchildren.

Potential buyers “want to maintain a luxury level of living, but want the ease of a lock-and-leave situation, so they can go down to Florida or travel internationally,” Gray said. The GrandView buyers “wanted to maintain that luxury and all the amenities, but didn’t want to deal with the yard, dock and all of that stuff.”

City Signs 20-Year Solar Deal Worth $5 Million

Annapolis is poised to make about $5 million over 20 years after signing a lease to turn a closed landfill into a solar energy park, officials say. The deal signed Monday will allow Annapolis Solar Park LLC to develop a solar project on 80 acres of the closed and capped landfill, which is near Interstate 97, Maryland Route 450 and Crownsville Road.

The city will make $260,000 a year on the lease with a 2-percent bump each year. The city also will be required to purchase 2 megawatts of solar energy from the park, although that is electricity the city would need anyway, Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides said.

Discovering the slithering infestation prompted the Brooks family to move out and file a $2 million lawsuit against real estate agent Barbara Van Horn, Champion Realty, Inc., and Van Horn’s mother, Joan Broseker, court records show. Broseker was the previous owner of the troubled house that sits on just over an acre at 631 Truxton Road.

But in a recent court filing, Van Horn’s attorney claims the sales contract with the Brooks’ specifies that the parties go to mediation to resolve any disputes. Because the couple hasn’t done that, their lawsuit should be thrown out of court, the real estate agent says in a Washington Post story.

The Iron Rooster: Comfort Food At Its Best

The Iron Rooster is a new classic eatery on the city dock in Annapolis. It has been open since October 17, and already folks queue up for tables. “There’s a really cool buzz about this restaurant. It gives people another reason to come to downtown Annapolis,” says Kyle Algaze, owner.

It took a mere thirty days to transform the restaurant’s space, formerly occupied by Maria’s Italian Restaurant. With its white washed walls and collection of rustic farmhouse ephemera, the Iron Rooster has the cozy atmosphere of a grandparent’s home, where you can get whatever belly-busting tasty grub you may desire. One may order breakfast all day, and bacon on demand. Entrées cross over into breakfast territory where cornmeal pancakes are paired with crab cakes or short ribs. Eggs adorn several selections on the menu.

With its elegant Georgian façade, the Chase-Lloyd House on Maryland Avenue is rightly considered one of Annapolis’—indeed, one of the country’s—significant architectural treasures. Unlike its more famous neighbors, however, such as the William Paca House and the Hammond-Harwood House, both of which are now museums open to the public, the Chase Lloyd House remains what it was and has been throughout its long history—a private residence.
