Save her life for our sons and daughters
She’s the heart of the Free State
Hold on to the clear water dream.”

Dave Tieff doesn’t fish.
He doesn’t crab.
And he doesn’t own a boat.
But he wants a cleaner Chesapeake Bay.
The Severna Park musician, best known as lead singer of Laughing Colors, is spearheading the Bay Jam Project.
“I’m at the point in my life where, if I write music, I want it to do something,” said Tieff, a 43-year-old married father of two young children. “The bay has always been something near and dear to my heart.”
He has arranged for about 40 musician friends — a who’s-who of area bands — to record his song “Clear Water Dream” — a sort of local “Band Aid” or “We Are the World.” The hope is to raise money for Chesapeake BaySavers, an Annapolis-based nonprofit dedicated to the bay’s health.
“Clear Water Dream” will be recorded this week and next. Tieff hopes to sell the single for 99 cents on iTunes. The lineup includes members of the groups Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, Sweet Leda, Kix, Bumpin Uglies, Pasadena, SR-71, the Kelly Bell Band and many others.
They’re also making a video, and Tieff has arranged for a Sunday Bay Jam concert and silent auction at Union Jack’s in Annapolis.
