Summer is upon us — it’s about time.
Longer days and warmer weather can only mean one thing: The annual trips to the beach.
But why should the journey be a two-hour staring contest with the highway when there’s so much to do and see in eastern Maryland? To break the monotony of the journey from Annapolis to Ocean City, we’ve listed the 20 great places to stop and visit along the way.
St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church - As you make your way down Route 50 after crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, you’ll notice St. Peter the Apostle Church sitting close enough to the road to bless your journey. This beautiful Gothic Victorian church, built in the 1820s, was the third permanent mission established on the Eastern Shore. If you’re curious to see the interior stained glass and altar furniture, you’re in luck! The Roman Catholic church still holds Mass at 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and 7:30 a.m. Sundays. 5319 Ocean Gateway, Queenstown.
