If you’re the owner of a popular restaurant headed into the all-important holiday season with a new chef on board, you might well pen a request for a successful transition in your letter to Santa.
On the other hand, if that chef is Nick Baker, go ahead and ask for a pony or an Easy-Bake oven because you won’t be needing Santa’s help.
Chef Baker, who trained at the celebrated Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, has sailed seamlessly (to mix a metaphor) through the transition from Severn Inn’s previous executive chef, the uber-talented Philip Sokolowski. Chef Baker is not only adroit when it comes to preparing the well-liked dishes that have remained on the menu, but gradually he is affixing his own signature to the menu with some creative and delectable dishes of his own.
