Sarah Culver always wanted a garden where she could grow vegetables, but that wasn’t possible until she recently became a homeowner.
Still, she didn’t know where to start with her Annapolis property. So this spring, she became a client of Agro Acres, which has ventured into edible landscaping by showing clients how they can grow food on their property. The services were previously offered on an invite-only basis to 15 clients in Annapolis and will now branch out into more for the fall garden season.
“For me, I needed someone to hold my hand at first and tell me how to get things going,” Culver said. “I’m a busy professional. I want to learn all this, but I don’t want to have my first garden to be a complete mistake all year and have wasted all this time. I needed help and this saves me time and it’s much more successful this way because I don’t have time to do all the research.”
The Arnold-based Agro Acres is a sustainable landscaping firm that branched out into the edible business about seven months ago. With the fall garden season, the workers are moving into Howard County and Washington, D.C. Prices start at $350 if the property has a raised bed and at $1,000 if it does not.
